Performed by Dr. Jones Helped Relieve Lori's Symptoms and Avoid Hysterectomy
Uterine fibroid embolization in Riverview FL, performed by board certified vascular surgeon Dr. Brandt Jones, helped Lori avoid major invasive surgery, avoid having a hysterectomy, and live symptom-free.
Lori had suffered with uterine fibroids for about 17 years. They were causing her heavy bleeding, pain, and they were greatly affecting her quality of life.
Although she had invasive surgery to remove the fibroids and put an end to her symptoms, eventually the fibroids and the symptoms returned.
Lori gave up and became depressed about her condition, realizing that hysterectomy may be her only solution.
That’s when she was referred to board certified vascular surgeon, Dr. Brandt Jones, at The Vein and Vascular Institute.
Dr. Jones performed uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) on Lori at The Vein and Vascular Institute’s outpatient endovascular suite. The procedure was minimally-invasive and allowed Lori to enjoy a quick recovery time, no visible scarring, and no more pelvic pain!
After the UFE procedure Lori is now enjoying life, pain-free, without excessive bleeding, anemia, or fatigue. She is well, recovered, and feeling great again thanks to Dr. Jones.
Lori had a wonderful experience having uterine fibroid treatment with Dr. Jones and his team here at The Vein and Vascular Institute.

During uterine fibroid embolization, blood supply to the fibroids is cut off, causing the fibroids to shrink and disappear.
As a result, Lori’s symptoms have completely resolved and she is thankful to Dr. Jones for putting an end to her symptoms and helping her avoid a hysterectomy.
Lori's Testimonial About Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
“Hi, my name is Lori and I’ve been suffering with uterine fibroids for about 17 years now.
My symptoms consisted of heavy bleeding, and this was affecting greatly my quality of life. It was really hindering me and stopping me from living my best life.
For decades this has been going on. So, in 2007 I had my first embolization procedure in New York City when I lived there.
And, the procedure was fairly new at the time, and basically, it helped, but it was only temporary. In 2019 I found myself going in for a myomectomy, and I had to have my fibroids removed, but they kept my uterus intact.
Fast forward to 2020 and the pandemic, the stress of it, the emotional eating that everybody was doing. I think that everybody was trying to find peace of mind at that time. And unfortunately, the fibroids returned.
I realized that I was experiencing heavy bleeding. I was bleeding for two and a half to three weeks out of the month. And I went to go see my OB/GYN. And as a result, they did an ultrasound and found that the fibroids had returned.
And, so, I said, “What am I to do?” I gave up. I was feeling emotionally drained at the time. Depression had set in, because I had assumed that this was the grand finale.
After all, my mother had to have a hysterectomy, my grandmother had to have a hysterectomy, my paternal grandmother had to have a hysterectomy.
So, it went on and on and it runs in the family, and I said, “I’m ready. I didn’t think I was ready before, but I’m ready. I just don’t want to suffer anymore.” And my OB/GYN said to me, “Let’s try another embolization. And in addition to the medication that you’re currently taking at this time. And we’ll combine the two treatments and see how you feel with that.”
It was a wonderful process, being referred to Dr. Jones here at The Vein and Vascular Institute. The staff was wonderful. They made me feel very, very, very comfortable. The procedure was seamless. The communication from the staff was excellent.
They really and truly care about their patients here at The Vein and Vascular Institute. I went in, minimal pain from the time that I was on the table, to the time that I left. I was given pain medication, but I didn’t really need it.
Some women do suffer tremendously with a lot of pain after the procedure. This was not my experience. It was great. I recovered very, very quickly. And, I would say in a week’s time, I was up and walking and moving.
And my son took me out and we had a wonderful afternoon. And then, a week and a half later, I was at a concert. So, I had a wonderful experience, and my recovery time was very prompt and fast.
Each woman is different, so your recovery time may be different than mine. But I had a wonderful, wonderful, quick healing experience. And I have not had a menstrual cycle in 30 days.
That’s my story. Pain-free. No bleeding. No anemia. No fatigue. I am well, I am recovered, and I feel great. Thank you Dr. Jones and The Vein and Vascular Institute.
And I will recommend that women, who are maybe thinking about having a hysterecomy, or maybe even going in the route of a myomectomy, this is the least invasive procedure that you could have.
No scarring. I have a hole that’s the size of maybe an earring piercing. It’s smaller than that. And it closes up very quickly. You don’t have the deep scarring. You’re not sliced and diced and cut.
You recover very quickly. So it is an alternative procedure for women who may be considering a hysterectomy. I highly recommend that you look into uterine fibroid embolization because this is the ideal treatment for people who want to keep their uterus intact, not suffer with a hysterectomy, have a faster recovery time, this is the procedure that I would recommend for you.”
