Caused By Osteoarthritis Lasting Up To 3 Years

Geniculate Artery Embolization in Riverview can help people suffering from chronic knee pain enjoy quick pain relief lasting up to 3 to 4 years so they can enjoy a better quality of life free from debilitating knee pain.
This cutting-edge, minimally invasive outpatient procedure reduces blood flow to the lining of the knee, thereby dramatically reducing the pain associated with osteoarthritis.
Board certified vascular surgeon Dr. Brandt Jones here at The Vein and Vascular Institute performs Geniculate Artery Embolization (GAE) on an outpatient basis and the procedure is minimally invasive, allowing for no downtime and a quick recovery, so you can get back to your daily activities within 24-48 hours.
We Are One Of Only 7 Facilities Offering GAE In The U.S.
HOW IS GENICULATE ARTERY EMBOLIZATION PERFORMED?

Geniculate Artery Embolization is performed through a small puncture in the groin. A catheter is inserted and positioned in the arteries around the knee. Tiny particles are injected that block the capillaries around the lining of the knee.
GAE blocks the blood flow in the areas around the knee that are inflamed. By blocking these arteries, there is a reduction in the amount of inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. This can help reduce or eliminate the associated knee pain.
Studies have shown that the procedure reduces pain in over 74% patients, and the relief can last for up to 3 to 4 years.
Board certified vascular surgeon Dr. Brandt Jones is now performing GAE here at The Vein and Vascular Institute. We are happy to be one of only approximately seven facilities in the United States offering this state-of-the-art procedure.
